Vcast is a technique company within the casting branch. We mainly work with set up for new patterns and 3D-printed molds, casting and solidification simulations and construction.
As support for our work we use the tool Magmasoft for simulations.
Our strength is our close cooperation with the other companies within the group. We can be involved early in the development stage of new products and give feedback to our customers.
Vcast is a affiliated company to Holsbyverken.
Big possibilities with 3D-printing of molds and cores in sand.
2020 we made the investment of a S-max 3D-printer from ExOne. We print molds and cores in sand with a box volume of 1800x1000x700mm. This means that we are able to produce 3D-printed molds and cores in sand to cast with.
Instead of using the traditional method of an imprint with a pattern we can fast produce molds and cores with the 3D-printer. This provide following benefits:
- Short lead time from 5 days for molds and from 10 days for castings
- No need of pattern
- More advanced geometries thanks to ex. no need of drafts.
- Advanced cores, ex. complicated channels inside the casted part
Suitable cases for this method are prototypes, advanced cores, spare parts and low volume series. This method toghether with 3D scanning opens up new possibilities for our customers.
We also offer molds and cores for other foundries to cast iron or different materials. All cases treated with high secrecy.
3D modeling
Optimize your casted construction
We have the experience and competence to construct castings from scratch, develop existing castings or give feedback for existing construction to adapt the product for being casted.

Simulations
For increased quality.
Casting and solidification simulations are helpful tools for both foundries and the user of the casting. With this tool we can fast get the knowledge of problematic areas of the casting before we start to produce it. Thanks to that we can adjust and optimize both construction of the product and set up for the casting system early in the development phase. Simulation can also provide the understanding of the process and challanges that exists for the product.
This facilitates the possibilities for shorter lead times, higher quality and decreases risks of complications in the process. We can also eliminate late changes in the development phase which often leads to high costs of changes of the pattern.
